Sam Frisby, Mercer County Freeholder Interview - October 7, 2011

On Friday Evening, I sat down to record an interview with Mercer County Freeholder, Trenton Resident and Cadwalader Heights neighbor Sam Frisby. Mr. Frisby was appointed in February 2011 to serve out the remainder of Dan Benson’s term on the Board when Benson left to take up a seat in the State Assembly for the 14th District. Full disclosure: I was one of the delegates to the special Mercer County Democratic Convention that selected him to serve on the Board.

Mr. Frisby is running in the November 8 election for his first full three-year term. We chatted about County issues as they impact – and are impacted by – the City of Trenton. I hope you enjoy the interview. Be warned, I was a one-man band with this production, as I shot and edited the piece solo; don’t expect any camera moves or similar flash. But then again, you don’t come here for flash, do you? ;-D

  • Mark Stradling

I’m sure he’s a nice man but what I hear in this is a plethora of platitudes. “Partnering” and “reaching out” and “giving people a voice” are just buzz words and a lot of yada yada. The rest is partisan rhetoric and does not inspire me to march to the polling place with a fire in my belly.
Not for nothing is his legislative body commonly referred to as the Mercer County Board of Frozen Cheeseholders. The efficacy of that body is debatable.

  • I agree Mark. The babble was so bad that, even though I know Sam and like him, I’m going to have to vote against him.

He’s become a Democratic Party flunky. He couldn’t say a word against a Mayor who’s likely set the record for cabinet director turnover, but he found time to rail against the Governor.

Kevin didn’t challenge him at all as he talked about partnering with the city. I’d like to know exactly what Sam thinks that means. There is no partnering with the city and Sam (and Kevin) likely know that.

Then he said, “as Trenton goes, so goes the county”. Really? I don’t think there is evidence to support that rather superfluous claim. Trenton’s economy has grown slower than the state, while Mercer County (minus Trenton) has grown faster. So basically, he’s just making up things he thinks “unthinking” Trentonians want to hear.

We don’t need more politicians talking about topics which they know nothing about.

Sorry Sam, but you’ve not made the effort to understand how the county can really make a difference in Trenton.
